Finding a new job or running for a position of power will give your confidence a much needed boost. Stop seeking the approval of others, especially when it comes to finding work. If you're interested in an unusual industry or want to take a job with strange hours, so be it. After all, you're the one doing all the work. You might as well have fun in the process.
